return homefirst we found a suitable location with a good set of trees to hang the web from as well as one that was hidden from direct eyeline as we were building this in a public space. we found a spot along a river that is relatively close to a foot path but has good tree coverage to conceal us.
next we brought a trash bag to pick up all the beer cans and cigarettes left all over the place, including 2 full unopened banquets
after cleaning up all the trash, we tied a 3/8" polypropylene rope around the trees we had chosen. we used another bit of some smaller rope as a tensioning system to make sure it was tight around the trees.
after the perimeter was tight, we began stringing some smaller paracord around the it. where the net was too high, we tied the rope around a stick to get it over as pictured.
heres the finished net and a view from the outside. as you can see its pretty hidden...
our goal with this after we finished was to camp a night in it. however, the spot was not as hidden as we thought. when we got there, someone's shit was left on the net.
we ended up just moving it and staying the night anyway. lessons learned: the way you knot the inner rope is very important. by the morning the thing was sagging cuz our knots lost tension. next time we will be more precise with that part. however overall for the first time it was a success.
